GROWING FAITHFUL CHILDREN
OUR MISSION
Growing Faithful Children is a Church of Christ organization that's purpose is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to children around the world and to teach those children to have a positive impact on their community through Christ-centered living.

WHAT WE DO
Education & Evangelism

With our organization’s mission, we emphasize the potential that children have. We spend three to six hours a day in different schools, teaching life lessons with Christian principles. We also aim to equip teachers to be able to meet the needs of each of their students.

It is our goal that we will have Medical trips starting in 2026! If you are interested in joining us please fill out the Get in Touch!

Troy has been involved in mission work for many years and has traveled to Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica and he has been involved in veterinary mission work in Haiti. Troy and his family have been working with GFC in Jamaica for the past six years. When describing the work in Jamaica Troy said, “Getting to see the same children year after year has been a part of this work that my family has really enjoyed. We get to know the administrators and teachers at their schools. We get to know their family situation. We get to see them at church and vacation bible school. They have become a part of our family. There is no greater experience than hearing a school full of Jamaican children sing praises to the Lord! Working with the good people of the Santa Cruz Church of Christ has allowed us the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus to these wonderful children.”
Troy is married to Angie Powell Jones and they have four children. All of whom have been to Jamaica with GFC. Chandler is 21 and attends the United States Military Academy at West Point. J.W. is 19 and attends Auburn University. Madeline (16) and Zoey (10) attend Andalusia High School and Elementary school respectively. The Jones family are members of the Central Church of Christ in Andalusia, Alabama.

About five years ago, I was afforded the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Santa Cruz, Jamaica. I was very nervous as I had never been out of the country before besides resort destinations. I was not sure what to expect or if I would even enjoy it. On the first day in Santa Cruz, I was able to visit one of the schools and completely fell in love with the people and especially the children in this school. I had a great admiration for the administrators and teachers and what they were doing with these children and their efforts to educate. However, I was more excited about the opportunity to impact the lives of these children with the knowledge of Christ and His love.I look forward to going back each year and being a part of their lives and being involved in the school. I am excited about the Growing Faithful Children program and helping these children learn how to break the cycle and teaching and showing them the love of Christ. Five years later, this is certainly a highpoint in my year and I am prayerful that I am able to be a part of this mission effort and Growing Faithful Children for years to come!
Stephen Crigler Minister Rocky Creek Church of Christ
There seems to be a debate as to who is blessed more from a short-term mission trip – The ones who are ministered to while you are there or the ones who go? Each year the opportunity to go to Jamaica and witness the faces of the children that you can see truly is a blessing. To see their infectious smiles and to feel their death grip hugs. To hear their voices praising God as they begin their school day. To watch their faces light up when they see you coming. Where can you go and have a child run and jump into the arms of complete strangers and offer unconditional love?
Jesus once said, “Do not hinder the little children from coming to Me, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Each day as you visit their schools, you can capture the meaning of those words. You can witness the heart of a child that Jesus was trying to point us to. Someone once said, “The greatest legacy we can leave a child is not money or wealth, but character and faith.” That is the hope that we carry with us to Jamaica.
To demonstrate the character of Jesus and to share a faith that lasts forever. Imagine a place where children live in what we would call poverty, walk miles to school, have nothing compared to what our own children have, but every morning they sing about Jehovah-Jireh (God will provide). How humbling is that?
For me, there is no doubt who is the more blessed.
